Darkspear Islands is a new 15v15 battleground for WoW: Forever, with four nodes and a central flag

Blizzard has revealed Darkspear Islands, a 15v15 battleground for levels 30-60 off the Dustwallow Marsh coast. Teams race to 2000 points by holding four capture points and running a central flag, with two new reputations attached.

Blizzard has announced Darkspear Islands, a new 15v15 battleground for WoW: Forever set off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh. It mixes two familiar PvP ideas: teams hold capture points to build up a score, and a flag in the middle of the map adds extra points for whoever can carry it home. The Horde side fights as the Darkspear Raiders, the Alliance as the Theramore Expeditionary Force, and both come with their own reputation track and rewards.

The forum teaser that pointed to the full article sums it up in a line:

Battle for the Darkspear Islands in World of Warcraft: Forever

Stake your claim in the Darkspear Islands, a new 15v15 battleground in World of Warcraft: Forever where teams fight to control strategic points, capture the flag, and earn reputation rewards with the Darkspear Raiders or Theramore Expeditionary Force.

The basics

Blizzard's fact sheet for the map:

  • Type of map: 15v15 capture point battleground with a flag capture objective
  • Location: off the shores of Dustwallow Marsh
  • Player levels: 30-60
  • Victory condition: first team to 2000 points

That level range is worth noticing. Opening at 30 means this is not purely an endgame battleground: characters in their thirties and forties get a full-size, objective-based map to queue for while they level, not just something to grind at 60.

Capture and hold, then run the flag

There are four capture points spread across the islands. Holding them earns your team points over time, and the more points you hold, the faster your score climbs. Anyone who has played Arathi Basin will recognise the shape of that.

The twist is the flag. It sits in the centre of the map, and either team can grab it and carry it to one of the bases their team currently controls to earn extra points. That ties the two objectives together in an interesting way: you can only score the flag at a base you own, so losing nodes also shrinks your options for a flag run, and a team that controls more of the map has more places to turn it in. Blizzard has not said how many points a flag capture is worth, how often the flag resets, or how fast each node ticks, so the exact balance between holding nodes and chasing the flag is still unknown.

Where to queue

There are two ways in:

  • Battlemasters in any major capital city can queue you for the battleground.
  • Faction bases in The Barrens on Kalimdor offer a portal straight into the battle. The Horde base of the Darkspear Raiders is on the Merchant Coast, and the Alliance base of the Theramore Expeditionary Force is at Northwatch.

The Barrens bases are more than a queue point. They also house the reputation vendors and the quest givers for the battleground, so expect to make the trip at least occasionally even if you normally queue from a city.

Reputation and rewards

Each side has its own reputation: Darkspear Raiders for the Horde and Theramore Expeditionary Force for the Alliance. Their vendors sell gear and consumables that unlock at different reputation thresholds, and Blizzard lists the following categories:

  • Trinkets
  • Rings
  • Cloaks
  • Weapons
  • Armor pieces
  • Consumables

The article does not name individual items, stats or the exact standing each one requires. Once the rewards show up in a beta build, they will appear on Phylactery's item pages.

There are also quests tied to the battleground. Marks of Honor are turned in for reputation through repeatable reputation quests, and reaching Exalted unlocks a short questline that ends with the faction's exclusive tabard. That tabard is the clearest long-term goal here: everything else on the vendor will eventually be replaced, but an Exalted tabard from a new battleground is the kind of thing people wear for years.

Blizzard has not given a release date for the battleground or said whether it is already playable in the beta. With WoW: Forever launching on 4 November 2026, the islands will not stay a mystery for long.
